NEW SINGLE!

Well we’re cracking on with our scheduled single releases!

‘Beer In The Morning’ is the new original track written by Liam Grundy, and like the previous singles, it features Preben Raunsbjerg, Neil Bullock and Richard Sadler. The track started life at Rob Milis’ Left Bank Studio and we mixed it at Chesham Woods Studio. Preben mixed, mastered and co-produced along with myself. The track is a tongue-in-cheek tale of spineless dissipation, so please don’t think we’e endorsing any particular lifestyle choices!

Our next Liam Grundy Band public outing, is at the Hightide Festival Twickenham on the evening of 30 July. More details will be in the Gigs section we get them. We had a great night The Eel Pie Club gig with a full house and we’re really look forward to returning in 2024. Thanks to Warren and Gina for looking after us. The Boogaloo Club gig was great too and we’re back on 28 January 2024. Big thanks to Andrew Hackett.

Starting a new series (3!) of ‘Walking Out’ which is doing really well. It’s available on Audible, Spotify and Apple etc. Catch up on the first two series here…

We were all very sad to hear that Carol Sloman passed away. As you know I had only recently completed work on her album ‘Song Cycle’. Carol was a good friend and a genuinely special talent. she will be very very much missed by us all.

As some of you will know, I worked for some years with Scotty Moore and we played gigs in Europe and the USA. One gig we did in Hamburg, was to celebrate Gibson’s re-issuing of Scotty’s famous Gold Gibson ES295. The gig was promoted by Horst Fascher who Beatles fans will be aware of. It was part of a tour that Scotty was doing with John Barron. Amazingly, on the night, we were joined by Tony Sheridan who The Beatles had backed in Hamburg in the early days. It was Sheridan’s recording of My Bonnie backed by The Beatles that had first alerted Brian Epstein to their existence. I had a few beers and a chat with Tony and he got up and played a few songs with us. He was very nervous to be playing with Scotty. Someone recently sent me a YouTube link of that night. Cafe Seeterrassen Hamburg 10.10.2000.

Tony Sheridan - Vocals/Guitar, John Barron - Backing Vocals, Ian Conningham - Backing Vocals/Acoustic Guitar, Scotty Moore - Electric Guitar, Pete Pritchard - Double Bass, Jim Russell - Drums and Liam Grundy - Piano. An interesting evening and thanks to Pat Foley and Juliet Avery for all their help and support.

Hope you enjoy the new single, and look forward to seeing you on 30th!

All the best

Liam
